Surf's Up in Siargao!

It looks like the Habagat season is taking over.

My friends all over Cebu and Bohol alerted me that we are getting big waves together with the “unos” or wind gusts. Waves are getting stronger in Liloan for the past few weeks, but is still relatively flat in Argao.

Now I am stowing my skateboard to the obscure corners as I am bringing out my skimboard. I can not wait to try out the tricks I learned on skateboard using a skimboard. I hope it would be pretty much the same and easy.

For sure, Siargao would still have those waves perfect for surfing, as it is facing the vast Pacific ocean, and has the necessary reef breaks to make those ideal waves for riding. I wish it was just an hour ride or even three hours ride from Cebu via bus so I can go there every weekend. FYI, there is a direct flight from Cebu to Siargao. I am not quite sure though as to which airlines other than Cebu Pacific flies there.

Speaking of all year round waves, Hawaii is the place to be. Although we always see those big waves for advanced surfers, there are spots actually which are very good for beginners: sandy bottom sea bed and consistent, average waves. For beginner surfers like me, I really dream of going to this place. I could picture out myself, a foreigner, with my surf mates, living among the locals along the beach. Not only do we enjoy the waves and wave riding, but we would be getting luau invitations from the locals and share their famous feasts with matching “Pearly Shell” song in the background.

Now let me go and look for wax for my board. Ciao!

The problem w/ the local season for surfing, is you have nothing interesting to see down at the beach aside from waves. Like, not many chicks in skimpy bikinis are there, dude? :) I rest my case. :)

Seriously, I think surfers should really check our beaches out during this season. Good luck. Have fun. and keep in mind “It’s not the Size of the Board but the Motion of the Ocean” … which also applies to penis size and performance. ;)
