Much focus is given to the national level, as it has more crappiness jolliness and fanfare that entertains the nation.
Benigno Aquino Sr. said, “Filipinos are worth dying for.” If he only knew. Did we degrade as a people from his time to ours? Else, how could he say so?
The Philippine Presidential Elections 2010, I would dub as The Great Rip-Off by the following parties/candidates who are actually the rotten fruits from a decomposing tree:
- The Administration who has the machinery and power to get the Local Government Units under its mercy for funds; who has every means in making this election a farce much like what Gloria Arroyo did last 2004 by rigging election results, then it was “Hello Garci”, now it’s Smartmatic with non-disclosed code that could, for all we know would only count its favored candidates, and moreso its questionable win of the bid with COMELEC and subcontractualizations in making the machines. It’s very obvious that I couldn’t say anything good to this present administration, despite my admiration and respect for Cerge Remonde.
- Manny Villar – great is my disgust to people who take advantage of the weakness of the Filipino people. We’re easily swayed by what we see on T.V., by much political ads. I just can’t pinpoint what that weakness is but I’m very very sure he’s taking advantage and now, getting the results. His political T.V. ads are really vomit-inducing. How could you possibly, for the life of me, promise a “Stop my hirap”? You’re spending a godawful OWN money on those, and how much is the President’s salary? Php 60,000 a month! I must be really crazy to spend millions just to get a few thousand pesos! And that C5 project, its very much obvious.
- Erap Estrada – another opportunist of the Filipino poor people. I cannot imagine why, oh why, when we were watching the impeachment proceedings with more fervor than watching the telenovelas at that time waiting for him to answer for his grave sins to this nation would be fooled in still believing in him. He is, I admit, still popular among the masa and I can’t blame them.
- Jamby Madrigal had served her purpose, or rather failed in doing so. If she fielded her candidacy just so she can ostracize and blaspheme the almighty and snob Manny Villar, she did great initially. Now it looks like Manny is the underdog, and we usually would root for one. So please stop it and you’re making a fool of yourself.
- Dick Gordon – I never liked this man, and I think the feeling is mutual. Hahaha, he doesn’t even know me, if you’re curious. He’s the choice of the “enlightened” or “politicized” “elite”. Let those “enlightened” or “politicized” “elite” wallow in their “enlightedness” or “politicizedness” “eliteness” since he doesn’t have a REAL chance of winning. What irked me is his showy I-know-it-because-I’m-good attitude in senate hearings. Lambasting witnesses or accused with the air of you’re-guilty-so-don’t-reason-with-me-and-that’s-it. Sometimes, though I admit not always, has a myopic view that he is entirely right.
- Gibo Teodoro is another opportunist. I only knew he existed when I got annoyed at those NDCC T.V. commercials in one of Pacman’s fight. Like what the hell? It’s humongously obvious what those ads for eh? Why the hell are you going to advertise your job, that you did this you did that? ISN”T THAT YOUR JOB??? BUT, if my logic is to prevail in choosing my president, it’ll be you Gibo because of your track record and basically your track record. The only thing that restrains me from choosing you is that you’re in the administration. You don’t denounce Arroyo and her inexorable wrongdoings even though you know yourself that it’s the truth.
- Opposition – is there such thing? Every candidate is allied to his/her own self and interests, that’s why we have rainbow coalition parties. Parties are devoid of platforms, and devoid of sense. They flip-flop faster than you can blink your eye. Ultimate example would be Miriam Santiago. It was for the good of Arroyo that she got her in the administration to keep her on a leash, and on a tight watch.
- Eddie Villanueva, seriously, what are you doing there?
- Acosta, De los Reyes, and Perlas, I’m sure you have good intentions and I’m proud that you’ve risen to the challenge in initiating change in this country, but there are other ways to serve. I know you know that you’ll fade in the background come Elections, and I commend your optimism and ultimately, come May, the courage to proceed though its realistically a lost cause.
- and of course the Filipino people who, I’m having doubts in its capacity to think and remember the atrocities committed against her. She has become numb of the incessant rape of power-hungry and corrupt souls who are masking as humans but in reality are unforgiving demons. She has become a battered wife, going through the cycle of forgiveness and trust on her tormentor and yet again betrayed. She has been given hope lately, but got clouded as the rapists are smooth-talkers and great liars.
I have made my choice already, but I don’t like to advertise.
For the good of the country, we, Filipino voters must think long and hard the name of the person we’re going to write on our ballots. Lastly, and the most important thing of all, whoever may win in this elections, we participate in nation-building. We don’t just whine about the sad state of our nation but we must ACT just like what Efren Peñaflorida did. It may not be as grand as his but in our own little ways, like not paying the fixers when we get a driver’s license and those things that breeds corruption within not only in our political, but social system as well.
Oh well, that was one long, heavy piece. I rest my fingers.

Blogged about Villar on my general blog as well. I’m still analyzing the others but Villar stands out the most. He is the current champion, not of the masses, but of the TRAPOS. He is using the poor, the poor should use him as well. The poor should milk him with all of his money but afterwards, they should not vote for him. Wake up fellow poor Filipinos, let us use them as they use us.

Cas, I noticed you didn’t write anything about Noynoy.. Any good things about him? Or bad?

Hehehe… I believe in the EDSA power, and I rest on my faith on it. We’ve been selecting “logically” ever since for our national leaders, and it has brought nothing but disappointment to say the least. To top the the list of “logical” or “lesser evil” would be Marcos, and Arroyo. Marcos was very intelligent, and Arroyo was the “lesser evil”. I couldn’t start telling how they managed to sink this nation deeper into the quagmire.
Noynoy is not exactly the right person who can lead us, but just like his mother he can serve as an instrument/facilitator of The EDSA spirit. And like I said, hopefully I’m right.

You didn’t mention noynoy kci hindi nman tlag xah nag exist. ano ba tlga ang nagawa nya when he was a senator??
he always bring his mother and father’s name.. pero ano ang meron sa “noynoy aquino?” Cory Aquino… i don’t think so na efective leader sya ng bansa. She’s a good mother and a wife but not a Pres. maybe “ninoy” pwede….

too bad you don’t like Gordon. among the candidates, sya lang naman talaga ang may napatunayan in the executive branch of government. here’s a post i wrote about his accomplishments: http://thetwitterer.blogspot.com/2010/01/richard-dick-gordon-philippines-hope.html.
i’m not claiming to be part of the “politicized” or the “elite” but yes, i am an “enlightened” citizen. is this not the way to vote? how can the Philippines recover and move forward if its people are blinded and ignorant?
ahhh, yes. i remember. every country deserves the kind of government & leaders that they have because those are the ones whom they voted, or majority of them did. sorry for the overruled.

HOW, REALLY, DID MANUEL BAMBA VILLAR, JR. GET TO BE RICH? It may bear and serve the Filipino nation well to investigate and know that Manny Villar may actually have broken through from Tondo-ragged accountant to billionaire-rich presidentiable by allowing himself to be used as a foreign investor’s dummy in the Philippine real estate business. You see, the conduct of real estate business in the Philippines is made exclusive by law to Filipino citizens, necessarily because its affairs involve sensitive issues that affect territory, patrimony, and national security. Wasn’t that a debonair American who was smilingly visible every day at the offices of Crown Asia, Inc., way back before the Villars became political aspirants? Unfortunately, sighting American presence at the Crown Asia, Inc. organization deteriorates to zero visibility in hot election weather, especially nowadays! As Manny Villar embarked on a political career, it naturally became strategically imperative to avoid flaks of damaging controversy about being economically beholden to foreign influence, especially from nationalist camps of the likes of then Senator Teofisto Guingona Jr. who was one among legislators instrumental in passing general law limiting conduct of real estate business in the Philippines to Filipinos only. In fact, it was from 1997 to 1999 that the bespactacled, middle-aged, happy American investor (silent or express?) of Crown Asia, Inc. was last regularly observed at the 18th Floor of Cityland Herrera Tower. Most of us often have “humble,” sometimes “rotten,” beginnings; yet being transparent about such beginnings can do more good than harm. The key to the answer may reach as far back as auditing times with SGV, or perhaps good Senator Manuel Villar would like to comment on this matter at this time?

It’s Benigno Aquino Jr. who said that, if you mean Ninoy on the 500 peso-bill. And Acosta is nothing than a nuisance candidate who just filed his candidacy to throw off Aquino’s position in the ballot, if you know what I mean.

The only we can do now is wait for the final result in this automated election. Villar is the perfect for the position president. He have the experience and I am quite sure he can make our country successful.
