Samal Island Hopping

During the 2008 Kadayawan festival, and in the midst of the MOA-AD (Memorandum of Agreement – Ancestral Domain) conflict between MILF and Philippine government forces, I braved the vast lands of Mindanao for 8 days. I traveled from Cagayan De Oro to Davao City via Buda without incident, but unlucky for some their bus got bombed or open fired at, or passengers pushed off the cliffs one by one. As to why I chose that time to travel, I didn’t expect that it would be that dangerous and at the same time adventurous. I traveled alone, so I wasn’t responsible to anybody but me.

Basdaku Beach, Moalboal Cebu

For non-filipino speakers, Moalboal is not pronounced like moan or boar, but rather Moh-ahl boh-ahl. Got it? Now you’ve learned something today. Apir.

Sigh, it is really hot this summer and I can’t think but engage in wishful thinking that I’m soaking in the water of the above picture. The summer heat, and the sweat, and the sometimes-hot-sometimes-cold breeze of the wind just simply beckons me to a large body of water.

Malapascua sunsets

Malapascua is known to most of my friends as having the best sunsets in Cebu, on top of its being a good beach destination. They encouraged me to go there and I did, with my cousins. I took pictures of the sunset and they were magnificent. I couldn’t do justice to its beauty by capturing them on a camera, but I still took some nevertheless.
