Bantayan Skimming

Bantayan Skimming

Gawd, it started last last week.

I went off to Moalboal and brought my skimboard and lo! I had big waves to play with! I spent the whole morning skimming, took a break to eat lunch, went skimming again.

In the afternoon, we hired a “snorkel boat” – a boat that looks like a banca but has a broader body and has katigs with rope, metal, and anything you could hang on when you snorkel. We saw pawikan (turtles) lounging on the wall that leads to the blue, unseen drop. They were cute and carefree, and we were excited to see them.

Last Saturday, I went off to Bantayan and swam myself out the entire two consecutive days. When I arrived there, the water was clear and very inviting so the very moment I stepped on the sand of the beach, I just took my shirt off and put my bag on the beach and dipped in the very cool aquamarine waters. The next day I spent the afternoon sleeping on the sand bar as it was cloudy, and woke up to a slight drizzle.

Next week, I’m going back to Bantayan and try to join panagatan or fishing on a fishing vessel! I got an invite from my friend and I’m thrilled to go back.

I may be on and off from this blog. :D

I took pictures of the sunset and they were magnificent. I couldn’t do justice to its beauty by capturing them on a camera, but I still took some nevertheless.

Snorkeling at Hilutungan

Before island-hopping became mainstream phenomenon here in Cebu, we were able to do it on a cut deal – 1 banca good for around Php2,000 with 20 passengers. It wasn’t popular at that time that’s why it came cheap. The package was good for 3 islands: Hilutungan or (Gilutungan), Pandanon, and Olango. These islands are now synonymous to Cebu island hopping.
