One of the getaways I love is nature trekking. Compared to mountain climbing, it’s a lot easier and isn’t as sophisticated. You would not require as much equipment and stamina.

I love the long walks in forests, hills, or alongside rivers. It’s like a journey not only to your destination, but within yourself as well. You marvel the handiworks of the Prime Mover in its niche — different kinds of birds perching on trees, flowers and interesting plants that you’ve never seen before (there’s one they call utot-utot and it really smells like fart), trees that cover the forest floor keeping it’s green and vegetative soil — all these makes you wonder if you’re part of the picture — or an alien of this place.

That’s what I’ve felt as we walked the route to the 7th Falls of Mambukal.

It is just an hour walk but it rejuvenates your stressed body due to working-at-night-sleep-during-the-day routine, clears your  jeepney smoked-belched lungs, burns your McDonald’s Go-Big-Time driven fats, and exercises those atrophying muscles on your legs. Clears your head off of pressures in the office and credit card debts, anxiety; it is somehow replaced by those meaningful (sometimes angsty) thoughts about your existence and purpose. Lol.

Shoot me an email if you want to know how to get there. And I’ll shoot you too. An email of course. :)

i’d been to mambukal a few times because my father is a native of bacolod.. but never been able to go back since a couple of years ago. this place holds a lot of childhood memories for me. I like the pictures you took, it’s still a great place to appreciate nature.

PS. only been to 1st falls.. :/

wow, you’ve been into a lot of adventures lately… been to mambukal too and I like the serenity of the place. We were able to trek the 7th falls upstream there were a few small waterfalls on the way, the biggest was the 1st and the 2nd. And I like the hot spring. The volcanic vents are also interesting, its scattered all over the place, even near the rest houses and you can smell the foul odor of sulfur.

I was in Mambukal just a few years ago. I didn’t have the travel bug yet but the place was awesome!
My parents are also both natives of Bacolod so we were forced to go there to visit relatives. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to swim much then, because I remember being sick.
