My travel inspiration

I first saw this music video in Oceanjet, a fast ferry boat that plies the route between Cebu and Bohol. Everytime I board that boat, I always, always, wait for it. It was my only opportunity to watch it as during those times, Youtube wasn’t popular yet OR I wasn’t acquainted with it (most likely it’s the latter).

Philippines is too beautiful and blessed; it’s just that sometimes we’re too negative. I have been to places (thanks to Cebu Pacific Air, your airline of choice) in the Philippines and yes, I agree with non-Filipino travelers — Filipinos are deviants of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. We are a happy people despite the alarming figures of malnutrition, poverty, and unemployment.

Everytime I get to travel to those tourist destinations, I always check out the video and then count how many places I have left that I haven’t been to that’s mentioned there.

Listing down the places mentioned:

  • Intramuros at Luneta – With my cousin and brother, we strolled these places and I found Intramuros wanting of care, Luneta neglected and taken for granted
  • Palawan – A must go to place! It’s big and has lots of places of interest that I don’t think a whole month will do in exploring this part of the Philippines
  • Vigan – I need to go look up a map first :D (at least I’m honest)
  • Batanes – I’d like to make this place my last stop and ultimate traveling experience, so I won’t talk about it for now.
  • Subic – Hrm, not quite interested in this place.
  • Baguio and Rice terraces – I think Baguio is quite overused as a tourist destination, so I’m not that interested going there; as for the rice terraces, I’d definitely go there if given a chance.
  • Zamboanga – Vintas of Zamboanga, it says. Luckily, I have a close friend who’s from Zamboanga and for all intents and purposes, it will be my next destination!
  • Bulkang Taal, Bulkang Mayon – Haven’t been to Bulkang Taal, but Mt. Mayon is simply enthralling — Magayon, as it is aptly called. I never regretted going there alone. Thanks to Cebu Pacific
    again, your airline of choice.
  • Beach ng Boracay at La Union – If there’s a word worse than overused, that’s Boracay. A Norwegian traveler I met in Siargao described Boracay as “just a big, party place”. If you say La Union, it’s a must go too! You should have seen the pictures.
  • Basco hanggang Jolo – that’s in Batanes if I”m not mistaken so an off-topic; about Jolo – my friend from Sultan Kudarat asked me, “are you insane?” when I told him I want to go to Jolo.
  • Pagsanjan rapids – No, I’m not interested. I was even a little disappointed twice with the rapids of Cagayan De Oro. It has level 1 & 2 type of rapids only which, can’t satisfy an adrenaline-junkie like me.
  • Anilao – Diving… Havta learn diving first. The costs of diving just discourages me, hehehe, so it’s not in my prio list.
  • SIARGAO! – the ultimate vacation destination! Live an island life not in a resort and you can say, gawd, this is where I want to settle down. Daku island, is the best island so far I’ve been to when you say you want to beach bum and do some flat-skimming. I tried surfing there but I guess you need to stay for a month to learn the very basics of it.
  • Antipolo and Obando – I’m quite geographically challenged when it comes to Luzon, or is it in Luzon? :p

TARA NA BYAHE TAYO!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video even though I had no idea what they were singing about. It was very upbeat and I know it had a very positive message. Is there anyway you could take the time and write the words to this song is another post. I would love to listen again but be able to follow in English. I do hope you would consider this request. Great post!

    God’s Blessings!

Intramuros at Luneta – been there

Palawan – must go place for me too!

Vigan – been there. when you travel here, don’t forget to go to Laoag and check out the Banggi Windmills and the Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud

Batanes – tell me when u’ll travel here. might join you too. this is on the top of my must see places list! I remember someone telling me that a group travelled to this place and the plane had to go back since landing on their airstrip wasn’t safe. When they had a go signal to travel again, they flew to the island, then had to go back again  i think they tried to fly 3x and on their 4th attempt, they successfully landed the plane. scary right? but still want to go there! hafta save lots of money for this trip though since this is kinda a luxury trip jud! My friend speaks of Batanes as a place where 7 countries are rolled into 1 island.

Subic – probably a drive through for the PX goods in case I still have money left after the trip to the Rice Terraces or Sagada! LOL

Baguio and Rice terraces – never been to both but I’d consider going to the Rice Terraces first.

    Zamboanga – uhmm.. never mind…

Bulkang Taal, Bulkang Mayon – seen Taal Lake from Tagaytay, passed by Mayon volcano :-)

Beach ng Boracay at La Union – haven’t gone to these places. will prefer La Union over Boracay, i think

Basco hanggang Jolo – Basco is in Batanes. Jolo, never mind.

Pagsanjan rapids – yeah, I can check this out too.

Anilao – yep, diving lessons for me first too

SIARGAO! – love to see the place

Antipolo and Obando – Antipolo, maybe I have passed by this area of Rizal. Obando, if my memory serves me right, is where my parents tried to dance in front of the church so that my mom could have babies. Not sure if it worked though, but after 5 yrs, she had us…hehehe

I came across this post hoping to find a “learn how to skimboard” post in the web.. i immediately assumed you were not from luzon after wondering where antipolo and obando is. i wouldn’t have known myself until i moved to manila, and yes, antipolo and obando are in luzon (incuding naga.. i think.. :D ). i loved this post and are definitely going to take this song’s advice and visit everyplace on this list (i’m already at 9 out of 18).

anyway, back to the real reason i was skimming thru the net- any pointers on where i can get skimboarding lessons? :)

  9. the best talaga ang beaches ng boracay, ayos na ayos ang whitesands at babes.”~:
