Cebu is experiencing scattered rainshowers, thunderstorms, and jejemons!

August, the Start of Habagat

I don’t quite understand when the shifts start, or whether there really is a definite time where the winds would replace each other.

So far, if you plan to travel to Cebu, it won’t be much of a hassle as of this month as the rains are scattered. Or what does scattered rainshowers really mean? Can we start dissecting weather reports while we’re at it?

Dissection Using A Rusting Scalpel

According to WikiAnswers, (apparently it’s not only me who has this dumb question), scattered rainshowers means rain may fall in certain parts of your area, and may not in others. It means to say, some of the rain likes to pour here in Lahug while it doesn’t like it in Labangon. I imagine them clouds bickering to each other, “Hey let’s go over to Lahug area, there’s plenty of space to play there!” and others would chide, “No don’t be silly, what would Labangon say if we don’t go there too?”

And what are those thunderstorms? A storm accompanied by thunder and lightning caused by rising air currents created to sow fear among the people. I remember one early morning when the sun was still buried in it’s sleep when it was pelting rain and the heavens raged as if there was a battle between giants going on; as if it was the end of the world. I remember going to Church and noticed there were lots of people who lit candles too. Indeed, those thunderstorms are created by the Prime Mover to remind us of our humanity.

About jejemons, I haven’t researched this one yet as I am running out of time. Perhaps you can tell me what this fuss is all about?

Serious Mode: Travel Advisory

For the past days in August, Cebu only experienced a few days with heavy downpour of rain. It was accompanied with flooding in some parts but got drained quickly as we have a surprisingly relatively good drainage system. Compared to it’s neighboring provinces, we has experienced fewer days with rain for the past months.

There is nothing much happening in here  for this month, or nothing much that I know of. Except probably with UP Cebu’s Cookout and Bonnie Bailey’s live concert. I love house music but too bad I’m going to Argao that day to skim and watch the “Lumba Dulhog sa Jampang” longboard downhill race!
