Balamban Trans-Central Highway

Trans-Central Highway of Balamban, Cebu. The road is not that quite difficult, but there were lots of accidents that happened along the highway or should I say, down to the ravines below. The last publicized accident involved Iranian medical students that went on a field trip. It killed 21 students and tourists as the bus went off the road down to the ravine as it lost its brakes. With that freaky accident as a reminder for us to be careful, I took all the precaution and climbed up a cliff without harness or anything. And yes I ended up tumbling down about 15 feet of the cliff I scaled down to the road gutter. The full account of that foolishness here.

Anyhow, we enjoyed the scenery and Baguio-like experience with all the fog and coldness that seeped to our bones. To think that it was about one in the afternoon, it was pretty much great to enjoy such coolness instead of the sweltering heat of a midday sun. If you plan for a road-trip on the Trans-central highway of Cebu, here’s a map for the jump-off point: jump-off-trans-central-highway-cebu Start off point is in JY junction, specifically the corner of Salinas Drive and Gorordo Avenue. Even in the jump-off point, it’s already a steep climb to the hills of Apas. Then you continue to Busay and then to the trans-central highway itself.

  4. We love Cebu! It also helps that it’s one of the few local destinations with a direct flight from Davao so cheaper rates. Andami pa namang gustong puntahan sa Cebu and Bantayan is next on our list since we got diverted to Moalboal last January because of Typhoon Amang.
