Convergys Perks

Being an employee of Convergys Cebu, one gets to enjoy the company’s flamboyant display of wealth, literally and figuratively. I’m about to go five years this coming November, and I have been to three summer outings and about four Christmas parties, each event trying to outdo the previous one. Who gets to enjoy? The employees!

Last summer, Convergys Cebu held it’s summer parteyh! entitled Convergys Heat Wave in Maribago Blue Waters Resort. If I’m not mistaken, this was the second time that the event is held here. Second, in a row. To think this is an expensive place to rent, not to mention the number of people you’re going to entertain and feed.

The Place – Maribago Blue Waters Resort

The place is awesome, that is why I have awesome pics. It is well maintained and well kept. Although you can notice that the sand is out of place and is not natural. Where the heck is the sand coming from when this is a rocky part of the Mactan island? No wonder sand-islands off Calape, Bohol and nearby islands got phased out from the face of the Earth. Anyhow I would have another blog about the price of “development” and “tourism”, so before I get carried away, I’ll make a mental note of my criticism and store it for the future appropriate post-bashing. So continuing with my feature post…

Heat Wave Frying

maribago blue waters resortsThere were two places where events simultaneously were taking place: at the mainland, and at the man- made island. At the mainland, all sorts of games were held: volleyball, tug-of-war, amazing race, and other fun stuff. While those games were happening, the non-participants and non-cheerers (cheerer read as: tig-lawgaw) can enjoy other activities like videoke and annoy those players; kayaking, frisbee, and water balloon splashing. Of all the activities, I found the water balloon so stupid that I couldn’t understand why one subjects oneself to humiliation: you in the middle of the water looking stupid inside the balloon with people watching you from both islands trying to balance yourself and of course would keep on falling because for chrissakes it’s spherical you know, and you’re on the frigging water and the ball would spin and would not stay still! Or perhaps that’s the whole point of the exercise. Whatever the point is, I find it pointless. (huh?)

All I know is chief of those activities would be eating, eating, and eating, as there were lots of food served and would be immediately replenished once they ran out. By the way, to get to the other island you would have to ride bancas or motorized water transportation (like the one in the left).

I spent the entire day playing; I played volleyball and mostly frisbee. There I got to play those heavy discs and learned some of the basics of the actual frisbee game. After the whole day, I looked crisp like letchon, as I forgot to put on sunblock lotion.

In the evening, entertainment ceased in the mainland and the main attraction was now in the man-made island.

Well I didn’t get to take pictures of the band playing as I was busy dancing to the music. After the band party was a sumptuous buffet, and then back to cool sexy dancers and of course the rampahan of Convergys model wannabes.

The experience was great, and I’m looking forward to the next summer outing. You bet!
